Hey everyone! I hope everyone’s doing great. 💕
Okay well I know Aaniat’s Blog was a beauty blog so far but I recently laid my hands on baking. I never knew baking’s gonna be this fun and it can work as an instant mood lifter too! It can magically transfer you from the real world to Heaven, and put you in a good mood even on the worst of the days. And the best part – it is quick! It’s a relaxing hobby & I REALLY want all of my viewers to just at least give baking a try. That’s why I came up with the easiest and yummiest chocolate sponge cake recipe for the beginners. You will need to be careful with your ingredients, your proportions, and your technique to get a perfectly delicious cake.
If you look at the ingredients below, I mentioned the quantity of ingredients in very understandable units, refraining from using Oz. & Grams.
- Eggs – 2
- Oil – 1/2 cup
- Milk – 1 cup
- Baking powder – 2 tsp
- Cocoa powder – 1/2 cup
- Vanilla essence – 1/2 tsp
- Self-rising Flour (Also called Maida) – 1 cup
- Caster/powdered sugar – 1 cup
I’m going to be very simple while writing down this recipe. I’ve listed the ingredients in order.
- Batter Formation:
First of all, break 2 whole eggs and beat them properly. It will form like a foamy yellow liquid with bubbles. Now add 1/2 cup of vegetable oil & 1 cup of milk in the same mixture. Beat it well. After that, add baking powder, cocoa powder, flour, vanilla essence & sugar in the same mixture in the quantities mentioned above. Just remember that you need to mix everything in the right proportion to get a great taste! Keep on beating it with an electric beater until it forms a smooth chocolatey batter.
- Oven Settings:
While you’re in the middle of making your cake batter, turn on the oven and preheat it at 180•C. Get in the habit of preheating the oven before you put anything in it because it’s a very important step. When you’re done making the batter, grease well the cake mould/pan using oil & a brush & pour the batter in it. Now put it in the oven.
On 180•C-200•C, bake the cake for 30-40 minutes. Keep checking the cake using toothpicks to prevent it from being under- or over-baked.
- How To Prevent The Cake From Being Under- or Over-Baked?
It is easy to check a cake for doneness by using the toothpick test. Just stick a toothpick into the center of your cake. If there is wet batter still on the toothpick, it needs more time in the oven. If it comes out clean, your cake is done! 👅
At this level, I didn’t make any special topping for my cake. I just poured Hershey’s chocolate syrup on it & it gave a great taste! 😍
